8 Reasons Christ Is Enough

“…whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.” (Hebrews 1:2–4 ESV)
Why is Jesus enough? The writer of Hebrews gives us eight reasons in just three verses.
- He is the heir of all things. Everything belongs to Him. The whole universe is His.
- He created the world. He was there in the beginning and has no beginning Himself.
- He is the radiance of God’s glory. Look at Jesus and you see beauty, worth, and majesty.
- He is the exact imprint of God’s nature. To see Him is to see God.
- He upholds the universe by the word of His power. Your next heartbeat depends on Him.
- He made purification for sins. The cross worked. You are forgiven.
- He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. His work is finished. He reigns.
- He is superior to angels. Even the most glorious spiritual beings are nothing compared to Him.
This is why Jesus is better. This is why His word is enough. There is no higher authority, no greater saviour, no stronger king.
He is the Better Prophet…God’s final word.
He is the Better Priest…who made purification for sins once for all.
He is the Better King…enthroned at God’s right hand, ruling over all.
So listen to the Prophet. Trust the Priest. Bow before the King.
You do not need to look anywhere else for truth, forgiveness, or hope. You have it all in Him.
Reflection
Take time today to reflect on these eight truths about Jesus. Which one most stirs your heart right now? Praise Him for it. Ask Him to deepen your trust in Him as your Prophet, Priest, and King.
