The Throne of Grace

When you think of a throne, what comes to mind? Power. Authority. Perhaps even fear. To enter a king’s presence without permission in the ancient world could mean death. Yet here, God’s throne is described as a throne of grace. The King of Kings makes himself available, not to crush us, but to welcome us with mercy and kindness.

Draw Near With Confidence

How can we come close to a holy God? Not because we’re worthy, but because Jesus has opened the way. He has passed through the heavens as our Great High Priest. His blood shed at the cross has dealt with our sin. His resurrection and ascension secure our place in God’s presence for eternity.

Confidence here doesn’t mean arrogance or self-righteousness. It’s the freedom of a child running to their Father. It’s the assurance of knowing we are loved, forgiven, and secure because of Jesus.

Mercy and Grace in Time of Need

Why draw near? Because God promises to meet us with mercy and grace. Mercy for our failures. Grace for our struggles. Both are available, not just once, but continually, whenever we need help.

Are you weighed down by guilt? Come for mercy.

Are you weary and overwhelmed? Come for grace.

Are you struggling with temptation? Come for help.

Jesus has opened the way. God’s throne is open to you. Draw near today.

Reflection

What’s stopping you from drawing near to God’s throne of grace with confidence this week?
