Jesus said,“‘They will kill me, and on the third day I will be raised to life.’ And the disciples were filled with grief” ([tippy title=”Matthew 17:23″ class=”” showheader=”true” href=”” width=”450″ height=”50″]23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.[/tippy])
How often do we get “the wrong end of the stick”? Instead of being filled with wonder and awe over the fact that Jesus would rise again from the dead three days after being executed, the disciples were filled with grief. They were filled with grief because they interpreted Jesus words in harmony with their personal experience that death was terminal.
If God is not able to conquer death then death is greater than he is. But he is God, and death is not. That is why Jesus promised us, after he rose from the dead,“Because I live, you also shall live” ([tippy title=”John 14:19″ class=”” showheader=”true” href=”” width=”450″ height=”50″]14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.[/tippy]).
