Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.—Ephesians 6:13 ESV

There are so many times that I can think of when I’ve been faced with a significant challenge of some kind and simply have had to say in my heart, “Lord, I turn this over to you.  I’ve done the very best that I can and I just trust in you to work it all out.”

We all face very perplexing times when humanly speaking we’ve exhausted all possible resources and the path ahead may look very bleak.  No clear solution is in sight.

The children of Israel faced such a time when they were leaving Egypt.  Pharaoh and his mighty armies were behind them and the Red Sea ahead.  The situation looked totally hopeless.  But the salvation of the Lord was manifested in a glorious deliverance and the destruction of the enemy (see Exodus 14, 15).

If we do our spiritual preparation daily we are building up spiritual resources that will carry us through those dark times and serious challenges.  We can “stand firm” on the precious promises of God.  They give us a foundation that will bring us through victoriously.

In all of these many years of trusting God I can say He has always made a way when humanly speaking I didn’t know what to do.  I’ve found that when I’ve felt the weakest and helpless that power, wisdom, healing, or whatever was needed was manifested but usually not on my time schedule or according to my way of planning things.  These words written many centuries ago have been true in my own life:

Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true. — Joshua 21:45

Also this promise is so very relevant to me in this chapter of my life:

Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green.— Psalm 92:14 NLT

I truly could never find any words to express my gratitude to God for His presence in my life all of these many years.
