“Share with God’s people who are in need. Practise hospitality” (Rom. 12:13).
In God’s church we are all family. Just as parents share with their children, so should those who have the necessities of life share them with those who are less fortunate.
When you practise hospitality you are saying to your guests, “You are important to us and we will be blessed to have you come and eat with us.” Caring about others is an integral part of the Gospel. It’s how Jesus demonstrated the love of God, a real, practical love. And the early Christians followed his example.
The believers … spent much of their time together in the Temple area. They also ate together in their homes. They were happy to share their food and ate with joyful hearts. The believers praised God and were respected by all the people. More and more people were being saved every day, and the Lord was adding them to their group (Acts 2:46, 47 ERV).
Jesus, in the guise of the hungry and thirsty, knocks on our door asking to come in and dine with us. What a blessing when we open the door to him.
