Ever-present Love

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?…. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (Rom. 8:35-37).

Paul knew what he was talking about. The first Christians encountered trouble, hardship and persecution as they proclaimed the gospel through their world. They knew the inside of prisons, hostile towns and cities, lonely roads and rough seas. But nothing daunted them because the love of Christ put a wash of joy over any problems. Their mission sustained them.

Christ could not have paid a greater price for our salvation than to be annihilated in our place. There is no way that he would make such a gift for us and then walk away from us leaving us to our own fallible devices.

No matter what troubles we may face in our spiritual journey, Jesus will give us the power to overcome them. He will turn apparent failure into success, and looming defeat into victory.
