A few weeks ago I was driving to a place I had been before, but couldn’t remember how to get there. So I used a map. But one of the roads it told me to go on didn’t look right to me. It didn’t look the way I thought it should.
However, I knew my judgement wasn’t as accurate or reliable as the map that actually knew how to get there, so I followed the directions and, sure enough, reached my destination.
The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5-6,
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Life is like a traveling down a road. We want to choose the best path but sometimes we don’t know which one that is. God has a plan for our lives and he knows the best route for us to take.
Sometimes he tells us to go places that don’t make sense to us. It may seem different to what we expected. But if we trust God instead of our own understanding, we will always be going the right way. And when we look back we will be able to see why he told us to take that course. We will realise that it led to a better place than if we had followed the paths we would have chosen ourselves.
