Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers (Psalm 1:1-3).
These verses describe the person who meditates on God’s Word. Like a tree by water they are full of life – for God’s Word always brings life.
In Gen 2:7 it tells is that “the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.” When we meditate then we are asking for fresh “breath from God.”
Meditation is not emptying ourselves, as Eastern religions would tell us, but rather with filling ourselves with God’s Word.
Prayer: Thank you that I can shut out the noise of this world and meditate on Your Word that I may learn to hear Your voice.
