How Vladimir Found the Gospel Again – Poltava, Ukraine

Vladimir has rediscovered the Gospel and returned to church.

My name is Vladimir and I am 77 years old. I grew up in a village, the same one as my wife. She was just a little older than me and we went to university at almost the same time, where she started studying medicine. My aunt persuaded me to also become a doctor.

My wife and I first learned about God through a Christian family that lived in our building. As we lived so close to each other, we became friends, and our children would play together. The mother, Tamila, was a dentist, and she worked with my wife.

One day Tamila invited us to programmes held by an evangelist from the USA. I liked the meetings very much. At the end there was a call for baptism and eventually a local church pastor baptised me.

I found the meetings interesting and inspiring.

Then my life became busy and I stopped attending church. My son started his first year at school. I was offered a new job in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which I had for eight years. It was a difficult job and would often take me away on business trips. After that, I worked at a psychiatric hospital. Also, for some years I was in another city helping my daughter to look after her children.

It was not long ago that I came back to church. I was retired at this point, and evangelists from Australia came to our city of Poltava – GNU’s Eliezer Gonzalez and Philip Rodionoff. They came and held Gospel meetings several times, and each time I went on Tamila’s invitation. I found the meetings interesting and inspiring.

Less than a year ago, I attended the meetings again in Poltava. A few months later I went to some at the “Sunny Carpathians” sanitarium. These were held by Philip Rodionoff and a GNU pastor in Ukraine. I now attend church and give praise to God.

Amen to this amazing story more similar to the story in Luke about the prodogal son who left his father and wandered away and later came back to his father and what a joy for his father when his lost son returned back home.

As much as our strength and means will allow us to do so, we will do the work of God in His power.
