Unlimited: You Are Already Saved

God has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began (2 Timothy 1:9, NKJV).

The apostle Paul uses words that tell us that this has already happened: “Who has saved us.” Believers in Christ Jesus are saved. They are not looked upon as persons who might one day be saved. They are already saved.

Salvation is not a blessing to be enjoyed on your deathbed, or to be enjoyed in some future life above, but something you can have now. According to God’s Plan, the Christian is perfectly saved.

The price of salvation has already been paid: “It is finished” was the cry of the Saviour before he died. The believer is also perfectly saved in God’s covenant promise: Adam and Eve’s sin was our sin, and our life is now in Jesus Christ.

This complete salvation is accompanied by a holy calling…. God did not choose us or call us because we were already holy, but he called us so we could be holy, and holiness is the beauty produced by God’s workmanship in us.

Salvation must be of grace because the Lord is the author of it: and what motive but grace could motivate him to save the guilty?

Salvation must be a result of grace because Jesus covers all our guilt and unrighteousness.

– Charles Spurgeon (adapted)

Eli’s Reflection: God has completed the work of salvation in you. You do not have to earn or prove yourself. You are already saved if you believe in Jesus. How does this make you think about your salvation?

Alot of the time I feel like I'm not saved. But I believe in Jesus that he died for me. It's so hard to accept that he loved me: us that much.
