Unlimited: God with Us

Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14, NIV).
In our imagination, let’s travel to Bethlehem with the shepherds and the wise men, to see the baby in the manger, who was born the “King of the Jews.” We can praise God for his gift of his son in the words of the prophet Isaiah: “Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given” (Isaiah 9:6).
Jesus is our Lord and our God, but he is also our brother and friend. He is the Son of God, and he came to rescue us from sin, and to restore us to a right relationship with God. The shepherds and the wise men recognised this and knelt to worship the tiny baby.
The good news of the Gospel is that Christ is not only our Saviour, but he is also our friend and supporter. He gives us the gift of salvation, but he also transforms our lives here and now. We can truly rejoice that he is “Immanuel” – God with us, in every aspect of our lives.
On this Christmas day, come, let us adore him and give thanks to God for “his gift that is too wonderful for words” (2 Corinthians 9:15, CEV).
– Charles Spurgeon (adapted)
Eli’s Reflection: On this Christmas day, let us recognise the miracle of Jesus, God with us. He is not a God who is far-off and unreachable. He is with you in all ways. Worship Him today on a day that rejoices in his birth.
I thanked Jesus that he is God with us
