But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building . . . . Nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.

Those who insist that what they do is no one else’s business but their own cannot sustain that view without running headlong into the rights and intentions of their fellow men and women. But there is a higher consideration: Even if I think that there are some activities that are so private, they could not possibly matter to anyone else—God is present to witness what I am doing. It is a thorough mercy that we are accountable to God. If it were not so, unrestrained ‘possibility’ would be our undoing, not our boon.
