I was driving at night recently, and not paying attention to where I was going, I ended up taking a wrong turn. The next thing I knew I was heading in the opposite direction to where I wanted to go. Soon, I was driving down unfamiliar roads with no streetlights, and I was suddenly grateful for my headlights. They helped me to stay on the road and enabled me to read the street signs so I knew where the different roads would lead.
In life, if we don’t pay attention to where we are going, and to the choices we make, they can lead us in the opposite direction to where we want to be. But sometimes it can be hard to know which is the best way to go, or the best choices to make. It can be like driving down a road unable to see the street signs telling us where the path is leading. But Psalm 119:105 says,
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.
The Bible is so important. It is like a light, helping us to make the best choices, so we can take the best direction in our lives. And Jesus has a plan for our lives, as it says in Jeremiah 29:11,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
However, the Bible doesn’t just help us to make good choices in this path through life, it also tells us how we can reach our final destination. It tells us that by accepting God’s grace through faith we can receive salvation, and eternal life.
