“Your present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” (Rom. 8:18).
When you chose to step away from your past and follow the Lord Jesus Christ, your decision possibly threatened the false spiritual security of some of your relatives or friends. They might have protested that you were making a bad decision, and may have even cut you off from their fellowship and support.
Your decision to follow Christ may have had hurtful consequences for you, but the price you paid is nothing compared to what the Lord has waiting for you in eternity.
I read about an English farmer who lost the keys to his tractor, so went home to get his metal detector to help find them. He had no success in finding his lost keys but unearthed, instead, a fabulous treasure that some pagan priests had buried in the field many hundreds of years earlier. That is a picture of your own experience. You have lost something precious, but, in return, you will receive something far better when the Lord returns. So hold fast until that time.
