“The chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, reached a decision. They bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate” (Mark 15:1)
How utterly crazy is this! For centuries the Jewish people waited for God to fulfill his promise to come and live in their midst and walk among them (Leviticus 26:11-12), but when he did come as promised (John 1:14) they had him crucified.
Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). When we reject his truth because it conflicts with what we have believed in the past, we are no better than the Jews; we sacrifice that Truth because it challenges our comfort.
