“My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes” (Job 42:5).
The road faith travels is one upon which pilgrim is always making the transition from hearsay to sight. That is to say, his/her knowledge of God right now, is partial, immature and in many respects, incorrect. Genuine development in acquaintance with God is never signaled by increased certainty in intellectual deportment or boosted self-confidence with regard to theological matters. No, the more personal friendship with God deepens, the more aware the worshiper of his shortcomings.
