A certain rich man said to himself, “‘You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.’

“But God said to him, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

“This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”

The riches of this world give us a false sense of security. How many wealthy people have found themselves suddenly impoverished by collapsing ‘blue chip’ financial institutions and banks? One day they are sailing the ocean blue in their luxury yacht, and the next they find themselves up the creek without a paddle.

True wealth will be defined by our status in the resurrection when on that day every person will stand alone without the support of earthly riches. What will we have on that day apart from the people we have helped win to the Lord? They will be our heavenly and unfading riches.
