When the wayward son returned home the father said, “Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found” (Luke 15:24).

There is nothing more pleasing to God than to have one of his wayward children choose to return to the family. Every moment you were away from home his heart ached for you. Now that you have come back home he is so thrilled he throws a party to celebrate your return.

God is always there, waiting. But he lets you choose the moment to return to him. His welcome is not in doubt, and like the father of the prodigal son, he will see you when you’re still a long way off, and will come to meet you.
