Dealing With the Unexpected

Dealing With the Unexpected

One of the things I realised soon after I was married was that my wife was much more spontaneous than me. I was used to planning out my day, and I would get all stressed out if my day didn’t go the way I thought it would. I’ve had to learn to chill out and relax, and it hasn’t been a bad thing at all!

Really, the most significant things that happen in our lives are not the things we plan for. They hit us from out of the blue. Sometimes they’re good, like when I fell instantaneously madly in love with the girl who’s now my wife. Sometimes they’re horrific, like when, in my case, a close family member committed suicide.

Seriously, how can anyone deal with the unexpected things of life? For me, it’s that I trust in a good God, and that I am safe in his hands: not just now, but forever.
