Shout with joy before the Lord, O earth! Obey him gladly; come before him, singing with joy.
Try to realise what this means—the Lord is God! He made us—we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Go through his open gates with great thanksgiving; enter his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name. For the Lord is always good. He is always loving and kind, and his faithfulness goes on and on to each succeeding generation (Psalm 100).
William A. Ward, author of Fountains of Faith one of America’s most quoted writers of inspirational maxims, once said “God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used any of them to say “Thank you”?
The German theologian and philosopher, Meister Eckert, once said: “If the only prayer you ever said in your whole life was “Thank you” that would suffice.”
It’s easy to take God and other people for granted, especially those closest to us. To whom could you extend an additional word of thanks as you go through this day?
Prayer: Move us to shout for joy because you are the Lord of all the Earth. Let us enter your gates with thanksgiving, giving thanks and praise for the Lord is good and his love endures forever.
