“The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them” ([tippy title=”Matthew 13:11″ class=”” showheader=”true” href=”” width=”450″ height=”100″]11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.[/tippy]).
Jesus spoke to the people in parables in order to discover who really wanted to know the truth about what he said, and who didn’t. Several of his parables condemned the Jewish leaders for their corruption and hard hearts, but these people could never be certain about that because they were too proud to ask Jesus what he meant. But when Jesus’ disciples came to him for an explanation of a parable he gladly told them.
Only to those who are hungry for the truth about God’s kingdom will the secrets of the kingdom of heaven be disclosed.
