God is on Your Side

“What, then shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Rom. 8:31-32).

What amazing assurance for the day! God is in your corner, and if he is for you, can anyone be against you? Remember why this is the case. It is because of the gospel.

In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus prayed, “My Father, if it is possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will but as you will” (Matt. 26:39).

Jesus couldn’t save his own life and save our lives too. Either he died for our sins, or we die for them. He took our death so that we could receive his life. God gave his Son as a substitute for everyone of us.

God not only gave his Son for our salvation, he also gave everything else we need in order to enter his coming kingdom. This does not mean we need more that Jesus in order to be finally saved; it means we need Jesus past, present and future. There never will be a time when we can be saved without Jesus.
