Good News Not Good Advice
When I was a kid, I used to bite my fingernails. Everyone gave me good advice about how to stop, but nothing worked. I finally stopped when I got some good news. The good news was that there was a girl who liked me! I never bit my nails again.
I don’t know about you, but I get too much advice and not enough good news.
Advice is about something I should do—that’s usually difficult—but good news is about something that’s already been done by someone else— and that’s great!
The Gospel is the Good News that because of what Jesus has already done at Cross, God sees none of your faults. In fact, he sees you as beautifully perfect.
So now you don’t need to worry about what God thinks about you, but only what God thinks of Jesus, your substitute.
Remember: The Gospel isn’t good advice; it’s Good News!
The Gospel is good news not good advice.
