Grace For The Weary – Hebrews 13:20-25
Jun 12, 2026 23876
If you’ve been reading through Hebrews 13 this week, you might be feeling its weight. Love like that. Endure like this. Honour marriage. Hold money loosely. Remember your leaders. Keep going. Perhaps it feels like an overwhelming to-do list! Good news. God’s grace meets you exactly where you are.

Hebrews 13:20-25
[20] Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, [21] equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. [22] I appeal to you, brothers, bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly. [23] You should know that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom I shall see you if he comes soon. [24] Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who come from Italy send you greetings. [25] Grace be with all of you. (ESV)
Grace That Meets You Where You Are
Are you weary? Welcome.
Are you feeling more at war than at peace? Welcome.
Are you aware of how weak and feeble you are? Welcome.
You’re welcome here because grace isn’t for the strong. Grace is for the weary.
We’ve spent four days considering the “so what” of Jesus is better.
Love that expresses.
Faithfulness that endures.
And now, finally, the sweetest landing. Grace that equips.
The God Who Equips
Listen to verses 20 and 21 again, “Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ.”
God is not asking you to muscle this out in your own strength. He is the God of peace, and he equips you. Death could not hold Jesus down. He is alive. He is the great shepherd, the leader of all leaders. And by the blood of the eternal covenant, he gives you everything you need.
Not some things. Everything good. Grace for today. Grace for tomorrow. Grace for the weary.
Grace Be With You
The very last words of Hebrews land like a benediction over the whole series. Verse 25. “Grace be with all of you.”
Not law. Not a final to-do list. Grace. After eighteen weeks and thirteen chapters, the last word is grace. We don’t boast in how well we’re doing. We celebrate the God who is at work in us. And when things are hard, we don’t despair. We say: “God, help me. Equip me. Enable me.”
The Good News Is…
The good news is that the risen shepherd is keeping you.
Jesus is your better prophet, so you listen to his word.
Jesus is your better priest, so you keep trusting his sacrifice.
Jesus is your better king, so you live under his rule and his reign.
And he gives you the grace to do it all.
You don’t love to earn his acceptance. You love because you’ve already got it. You don’t endure to keep your salvation. You endure because the same Jesus who saved you is still with you and will be forever.
Jesus is better. And his grace is with you.
Reflection
Heavenly Father, thank you that the last word of Hebrews is grace. Thank you for not leaving us to do any of this in our own strength. You are the God of peace who raised Jesus from the dead, and you are at work in us by your Spirit. Equip us with everything good. Help us to love, to endure, and to rest in the finished work of your Son. We need your grace today, and we thank you that it is already ours. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
