Homeless for a Night
I spent a few days in Jerusalem a little while back. When we got there, we found out that the cheap hotel that we’d booked on-line had double-booked our room to someone else! And there was no room anywhere else in the city!
After a good deal of haggling, the manager said he’d would let us sleep in the attic. The attic was basically a filthy storeroom and rubbish dump.
I can tell you, that was a memorable night.
And actually, it reminded me of someone else who came to the holy land and also found there was no room for him at the inn.
And when I thought of that, I found unexpected joy. It’s hard to explain, but in the bigger scheme of things, it wasn’t so bad.
I actually had a great trip. So don’t let your disappointments overshadow your blessings. Remember: You too can find joy in unexpected places.
You can find joy in unexpected places.
