In the Image of God

They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles (Rom. 1:23).
God created us in his own image (Gen. 1:27). Man makes a terrible mistake when he creates God in his own image because man never rises higher than his concept of God. If God is a rat or a monkey, why should man respect such a creature? Can it see what man does in the night, or behind closed doors? Is it able to correct him when he goes wrong? Of course not!
When I became a Christian it came as a shock to me to learn that God knows even our thoughts. The Bible says, “The Lord knows the thoughts of man” (Psalm 94:11). From that point forward I made it my aim to become careful of what I thought about. And that was good for me because bad thoughts lead to bad actions; bad actions lead to bad habits, and bad habits result in bad destinies.
Jesus tells us to hallow God’s name, because when we uphold God’s name we also uphold our humanity. The most noble of people are those who love, honour and serve the Lord; they are careful not to bring discredit to his name. Make it your aim to uplift and protect God’s name at all times.
