What’s in a name? If it is God’s name we are talking about, one name cannot hold the riches of His glory and the abundance of His heart. There is an amazing spiritual treasure trove to be discovered in getting to know the names by which God wants to be known. Let me whet your appetite by sharing with you scripture on God as the Jehovah-Jireh, the God who is your provider or literally ‘the God who will see to it’.
You are Jehovah-Jireh: the Lord my provider! Genesis 22:14
His Riches are Mine: “My God will supply my every need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
God freely give us all things: “You did not spare your own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would you not also with him freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32
The More God: “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…” Eph. 3:20
His Generosity Opens Mine: “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”. Luke 6:38
When Jesus was on earth, He fed the five thousand plus with a little boy’s lunch. It didn’t matter that the little boy only had five loaves of bread and two fishes. Jehovah Jireh turns the ‘little’ into an overflow. We like Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother say to Jesus “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” John 6:9. But only if we forget WHO we are talking to.
After thousands ate as much as they wanted, there were twelve baskets left over. Our Abba Father is also our Jehovah Jireh, who is outlandishly generous.
