John is Baptised as a Result of Daily Devotionals – Kampala, Uganda

On 7 October 2018, one of the our GNU subscribers to our daily devotionals in Uganda was baptised, thanks to Pr Isaiah who provided us with a baptismal pool and audience at his Church in Kampala, Uganda. After this exciting event, our baptistee, John gave the following testimony:
“I’m a firm believer in God’s plan and that everything happens for a reason. I was baptised as an infant but have always felt somewhat disconnected in my relationship with God ever since high school. My life was so busy and church made me feel like I was partaking in more of a “religion” than a relationship with Christ. I stopped attending church regularly but after going through a tough breakup and my parent’s divorce I drew closer to God.
I witnessed how much God changed my mom’s life and how he helped her through the hardest time in her life. She is the strongest woman I know and I thank God that he did that for her and for me so I could have such a strong woman in my life. I knew I wanted what she had.
For a while I was committed but I let life get in the way again and didn’t make time for God. I miss that way it felt to be closer to Him. My whole life I have battled anxiety and the only time I truly felt like it was no longer a constant issue in my life was when I drew close to God and trusted Him.
Two years ago I began receiving devotionals from GNU in my emails. I also began making prayer requests via their website. Later I met their representative who continued encouraging me in my journey of knowing more about God. I loved the teachings but unfortunately GNU has no church here.
“I want to recommit to God and live the amazing life he has planned for me”
Now I want to recommit to God and live the amazing life he has planned for me. As I look towards the next year I have some big decisions coming up. As a college student it’s my time to decide what I want to do with my life and who I want to be. And while I can’t say I have it all figured out, I know that God does. I want him to show me the right path.
All this has been going through my head for awhile, which brings me back to everything happening for a reason. After I had stopped attending church my sister suggested we try this place called Well of Worship (led by Pr Isaiah, a friend to Pr Bonifresh of GNU) that her coworker attended. After the first service it felt like home. I finally felt like I was back on the right track and where I was supposed to be but something was still missing. That’s when the opportunity to be baptised came up and instantly I knew that was what I wanted.
It means so much to me this wasn’t something that was decided for me but something that I decided. I want the world to know I am committed to my relationship with God and that I look forward to what the future brings with Him.”
