“God’s kindness leads you towards repentance” (Rom. 2:4).
When the woman who was caught committing adultery was brought to Jesus to be judged for her infidelity, Jesus refused to condemn her (John 8:1-11). Instead, he forgave her. Earlier Jesus said, “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world” (John 3:17).
Jesus doesn’t judge us for our sins because he was judged and condemned for them on the cross. And because he was judged for all our sins—past, present and future—we are set free from condemnation.
Jesus is no longer our Judge. Instead he is our Forgiver. The absolute worst thing we can do is to reject his forgiveness, which he obtained for us at the cost of his own life.
