Keeping Our Eyes on Jesus Through the Scriptures – Hebrews 12:1-2
Jun 24, 2026 225
Yesterday we walked the road to Emmaus with two disciples — today the journey becomes ours. What happens when we start keeping our eyes on Jesus instead of our circumstances?
“Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” — Hebrews 12:1–2 (NLT)

Yesterday, we reflected on how Jesus Christ, while walking with His disciples on the road to Emmaus, guided them through the Scriptures that pointed to Him. Today, let us begin our own journey through the Scriptures with the Spirit of Jesus — the Holy Spirit — as our guide.
Seeing Jesus clearly throughout the Scriptures brings great rewards. My father used to say, “What gets your attention, gets you.” As we behold Christ, we begin to be transformed by Him. Scripture says: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image…” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Another great reward is that, by truly coming to know Jesus, we discover what God is really like. Jesus said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). A clear view of God changes everything. We no longer need to live as though we are abandoned or alone. Through Christ, we come to know God as our loving Father and ourselves as His beloved children.
And how else can we endure life in this broken world except by keeping our eyes on Jesus? Scripture encourages us: “Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus…”
The Good News Is…
The good news is that as we journey together through the Scriptures in the days ahead, the Holy Spirit will help us increasingly fix our eyes upon Christ. The more clearly we see Him, the more hope, strength, peace and joy we will find for the journey home.
