She Came to Practice English and Found Jesus – Cherkassy, Ukraine

I grew up in an atheistic family. My parents were teachers. My father was a school principal but he did not move up the career ladder any further as he did not want to become a communist party member – that was a compulsory condition! My parents did not oppose God; they simply did not believe in him.
Like my parents, I pursued a career in education. This spring, at the university where I taught, I had a significant conversation. I said that I travelled from time to time, so I needed to practice English. One of my colleagues advised me to go and listen to Australian lecturers GNU’s Eliezer Gonzalez and Philip Rodionoff, who were going to come to Cherkassy and lead interesting spiritual meetings in English. Therefore, I went.
It was not only the English language I became interested in, but also the topics spoken about. I had never opened a Bible before, and I had not worked out the subject of spirituality by myself. I did not even know what the words “hallelujah” and “amen” meant!
The meetings ended, and I started attending church. The church building was near my house!
It was not only the English language I became interested in, but also the topics spoken about
One of the benefits for attendees of the evangelistic meetings was a chance to get a voucher to go to a health retreat at the “Sunny Carpathians” health resort, where there would be meetings by various speakers, including Philip Rodionoff. It was a bonus for me to win it – and, of course, I went!
At the health retreat, we went deep into studying the Bible. I liked the atmosphere of friendly communication and beautiful nature. At the “Sunny Carpathians”, I accepted Christ completely and I was baptised. I have made a covenant with God and I am his child now! Praise God!
