Step/Week 12, Day 2 – Give and Yes: Be Part of the “We”
May 6, 2020 1050
“Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better…. And one standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer; three is even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken” (Eccl. 4:9-12, TLB).
Do you remember those feelings of isolation? You thought by isolating yourself from others, that you were actually protecting yourself, when actually you were doing yourself more harm by those very actions. Crazy! I know. I’ve been at that place too, in my past.
You’ve come to realise that isolation just doesn’t work whilst going through recovery and when you’re enjoying a recovered life. You needed others around you when you battled against your addictions. God was with you. Other people are going through the same battles that you’ve conquered. It’s now your time to give something back. You can share your story of recovery. You can be there for someone, when they’re hurting and thinking of going back to their “old ways”.
The verses for today, give you a wonderful example of biblical teamwork. There’s no room for “I” in these verses, especially when it recognises the limitations of one individual (“And one standing alone can be attacked and defeated”). But do you see where the victories take place? They take place when there is “two” or “three” standing together with a common goal to “conquer” and overcome.
You know how it felt to be “broken,” others do too, and they’re probably experiencing that, right now. Now is the time for you to step up and be part of the “We” in their life, to give back to them, all that you have received, as you walk with them on the well-trodden path of recovery.

Personal Reflection: Who can you think of, who may need your help today? Spend some time in prayer, seeking God’s direction and guidance for this day. Ask Him how you may best serve others this day. Thank Him for the opportunities that He is giving you!
