Step/Week 6, Day 2 – Ready: Release Control
May 6, 2020 1074
“Help me to do your will, for you are my God. Lead me in good paths, for your Spirit is good” (Ps. 143:10, TLB).
Are you a strong-willed person? Do you lack self-control? Are you a control freak? Those of us who know what it is like to be addicted will be able to relate to most of those areas mentioned in the questions above.
When you realise how many character defects you have and get to the place to want God to do something about them, you need to start the process by releasing your control and giving that control to God.
You can see how the psalmist seeks God to help him do God’s will in his life. He implores God to lead him down “good paths”. These paths are where you need to be on your journey of recovering from your addictions. You need to change your direction in the way you’re travelling. You need to move away from the path that leads to fuelling your addictive behaviour.
The key to God successfully removing your character defects starts with your willingness to let God enter every area of your life, especially those dark areas, where you would rather have nobody go there. Your willingness to release control of your life will be the catalyst for God to get to work on you. And you know what? He’s really ready and willing to do just that, for you, today.
God is good! Jesus is good! The Holy Spirit is good! Make yourself available, by releasing control, of this inexhaustible supply of heavenly goodness. You know it makes total sense to do so!

Personal Reflection: Are you willing to give control of your life to God? Will you let Him into those dark areas of your life? Meditate over today’s verse and let God’s goodness wash over you.
