Suffering Is Never Wasted on a Christian – Romans 5:3-4

Jun 16, 2026 13

Suffering is NEVER wasted on a Christian.

Verse of the Day.

Romans 5:3-4

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance, and perseverance produces character, and character produces hope.” (ESV)

Paul is writing to people who were far from God but through Jesus are now restored — justified, back in relationship with God. And he says the joy of a Christian isn’t just in that right standing with God. It’s even in our sufferings.

Why? Because suffering does a good work in us.

Suffering teaches us perseverance.
Perseverance strengthens our character.
And a strengthened character grows in hope.

Every moment of suffering in a Christian’s life – helps us to hope all the more in Jesus.

The good news is — because Jesus rose from the dead, our hope is real, we too will be physically raised from the dead.

No matter what suffering you face, there is a certain hope and future glory for all who trust in Jesus. Keep holding onto him.

Like and Share this so others can see Jesus clearly.
