The One Who Satisfies

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:35-38).

Jesus ministered grace to the people by proclaiming the good news of the kingdom; that by accepting him as their Lord and Saviour they automatically became citizens of his eternal kingdom.

He had compassion on the crowds who came to him because they were confused with no trustworthy leader whom they could look to for guidance. The One who stood before them had all the credentials of leadership.

Would they accept him? Their needs made them receptive to his message of salvation.

It is our privilege and duty to point such people to the One who can satisfy all of our needs. But, as finite beings, we can’t reach everyone by ourselves. We need help.

If Jesus asks us to pray for something, we may be certain that he will answer our prayer. Do you have a need in your area for good evangelists and missionaries? If you do, make it a matter of prayer.
