Unlimited: Christ Says to You, “Live!”

When I passed by you… I said to you… ‘Live!’ (Ezekiel 16:6, NKJV).
The Word of God in Ezekiel 16:6 is majestic. Here is a sinner ruined by sin, but the eternal Lord passes by in his glory. The Lord looks, he pauses, and he pronounces the solitary but royal word, “Live.” Who but God could give life with a single syllable?
The sinner is ready to be condemned, but the mighty One says, “Live,” and he rises pardoned and absolved. We didn’t know Jesus—our eyes could not see Christ, our ears could not hear his voice. But when Jehovah said “Live,” we who were dead in trespasses and sins were made alive.
When God says to you “Live,” that word rolls on through all the years of time till death comes, and in the midst of the shadows of death, the Lord’s voice is still heard, “Live!” In the morning of the resurrection it is that same voice which is echoed by the archangel, “Live,” and as holy spirits rise to heaven to be blest forever in the glory of their God, it is in the power of this same word, “Live.”
This is an irresistible command. It is also a command of free grace. When sinners are saved, it is only and solely because God has spoken this command to magnify his free, unpurchased, unsought grace. – Charles Spurgeon adapted
Eli’s Reflection: God has commanded you to live, not just in eternity, but an abundant life now. What kind of life are you living?
