Unlimited: Exiles Outside of the Gates of Eden

Your God will come to save you… Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away (Isaiah 35:10, NIV).
There’s a deep, lifelong longing in us to belong, to be loved, and to be accepted just as we are. More so at some stages of our lives than others, we sense that we have been alienated from something, someplace, or someone that our heart longs for.
Perhaps we feel as if we are sitting just outside the gates of Eden with no way of re-entering. We feel burdened with injustice, loss, abuse, inequity, and many other miseries.
You may have tried many other solutions – philosophy, religion, politics, even substance abuse or working to gain wealth. But, like most people, you know that these just don’t work. There is a solution. Jesus, who is God’s presence amongst us, offered himself as the solution to all suffering and all unfulfilled longings.
“Your God will come to save you… Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away (Isaiah 35:10).”
And again, “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain – for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4).
Who else do you know who can, or has made such promises as this? Jesus is the only means of salvation. He alone holds the key to all our longings, so come to him today.

Eli’s Reflection:Where do you try to fulfil your deepest longings? Does it work or leave you empty? Go to Jesus. He truly satisfies your every longing. He knows you personally.

The crown of thorns strengthens my feeble soul. And he walks with me and he talks with me and he tells me lam his own. And the joy we share as we tarry threre none other has ever known
