Unlimited: God Wants to Be Your Friend
Jul 22, 2019 1853
The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend (Exodus 33:11, NIV).
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to know that you are a friend of God? Yet many people can’t accept that they are. They think about their past and they find too many failures. They consider their present, and they find too many weaknesses. And so, they ask themselves, “What could God want with a friend like me?”
But think about Moses. In terms of being qualified to be a friend of God, he seemed the most unlikely. The first time that God spoke to him, all he did was make a long list of excuses about why he couldn’t be a friend of God and do what God asked him to do (Genesis 3:11–17; 4:1–13).
And really, Moses seemed to have a good argument. After all, he was just a shepherd. Even worse, he was a murderer. He was a murderer because of his hot temper, which he never fully overcame, even towards the end of his life (Numbers 20:11–20).
God wants to be your friend too. Whether you think you are qualified or worthy is not the issue. He loves you despite it all.
And if you accept his friendship, the Lord will be your friend today, and one day, he will speak with you face to face, as one speaks to his dearest friend. – Eliezer Gonzalez
Eli’s Reflection: How do you see God? Do you see him as your friend? If not, then think: How do you make friends with others? Perhaps you need to do that more with God.
I didn't, but the Holy Spirit did :)
How did you know I needed this today Eli?
