Unlimited: Nothing Can Separate You from the Love of God

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38–39).

Here is a vital truth that we must always remember throughout our lives. Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

The apostle Paul here lists some of the things that people in his day, and in ours, fear the most, such as life, demons, and the powers of the cosmos and of this world. He also mentions the present, because many people feel that they are prisoners of their present circumstances, and so they live in fear of the present. People live as prisoners of the past, because of the mistakes they have made, or because of the abuse and the wrongs they have suffered. And we think, when we have this mindset, that the love of God cannot reach us. How wrong this is!

The love of God will find you wherever you are and will be with you even in your darkest hour.

The first believers had witnessed the love of God incarnate come down to them from heaven in the person of Jesus. The love of God had walked among them, taught them, healed them, and had enjoyed life with them. The love of God had come back from the grave to save them.

The love of God will find you wherever you are and will be with you even in your darkest hour. God’s love doesn’t depend on how much you love him, but on how eternally he has loved you.

Spiritual Application

Paul was convinced that the love of God was always with him. Are you convinced? Are you sufficiently convinced that you could be used by God to help convince someone else? Don’t just pray about it. Take action!
