Unlimited: The Gospel and Election

As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs (Romans 11:28).

Why does Paul say that the Jewish people are enemies? The reason is because they chose to oppose the Gospel. Because of that, it was able to more readily reach the Gentiles. It is “for your sake”: the sake of the Gentiles.

Israel aren’t the enemies of the Gentiles; they are enemies of the Gospel. The natural state of every human being under sin is to be an enemy of God. That’s why Paul wrote earlier,

…while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son… (Rom. 5:10.)

God’s will has permitted the Jewish people to choose to reject the Gospel, however they are still loved. Paul is pointing out that God had still chosen and called the people of Israel, as his dealings with them through the prophets demonstrates.

God’s will has permitted the Jewish people to choose to reject the Gospel, however they are still loved.

Now, we as Gentiles, having been “grafted in” are also part of spiritual Israel. Abraham, the father of the faithful, is our father also. The patriarchs are ours also. The love that God lavished upon them, and the revelation that he gave them, was also for us.

While Israel had set themselves against God, he was still for them. That’s true for us today. Although we may be against God, he is always for us. His love is from generation to generation (Ps. 100:5.)

Spiritual Application

Think about your own parents. No matter who they are/were, God loves them. He loves you for your own sake, however, he also loves you for their sake. If you have children, God loves them for their own sake, yet also for your sake. Can you see God’s eternal chain of love?

God never rejected his people from the every beginning but since mankind fall from the faith God still Loved them even up to this generation God still loves us but just as every beginning Judah betrayed the truth and resorted to follow the Cares of the world that led to his doom. Oh what costed God on the Wooden cross matters a lot. Jah bless.
