Unlimited: What You Know is Good

Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil (Romans 14:16.)
The freedom that Christ brings is good. In this case, Paul is referring specifically to freedom from the Jewish dietary restrictions. However, if this freedom is flaunted in the face of those of weaker faith, who do not understand, it will cause Christ’s freedom to be spoken of as evil.
Not only that, but as Paul has told us in the previous verse, it will cause people to fall into sin through various means. It can lead people to violate their conscience, and it can lead them into arguments, anger and dissension. This is what Paul referred to when he wrote in v.13 about not putting:
any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister (v.13.)
We are not to allow those things we enjoy under the liberty of Christ, and which we know are good, to be condemned as evil.
Those who are strong in faith therefore have a duty to God to make sure that those of weaker faith are not led into sin through their inconsiderate flaunting of their freedom.
Likewise, elsewhere, Paul tells those who are weaker in faith, who insist on a tight regulation of life, that they have no right to police the choices of others (1 Cor. 10:29–30; Col. 2:16–23.) We are not to allow those things we enjoy under the liberty of Christ, and which we know are good, to be condemned as evil.
Spiritual Application
Reflect on your own spiritual journey, and how God only revealed the next phases of your spiritual growth when you were ready to embark on them. How can you better relate to those people who insist that you do or don’t do certain things as part of being a Christian?
Hello, We do realize that Jesus was not talking about food right ? Anymore then He was talking about food at the well in Samaria. Ahoh. Ketchakah
