Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever. (ESV)
Three things in response to this verse.
- Because the word of God is from God and he is good and he is trustworthy, this word, God’s word, is true and it is reliable and it is worth staking your life upon.
- If someone comes along suggesting something different about God’s word from how Christians have understood it for the last 2,000 years, be aware.
- Make sure as you read the word of God, you see the hero of the story at the centre of it all. His name is Jesus. He is the Word who became flesh.
See him, behold him, trust him, and give yourself to him, responding rightly every day to his word.
