Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (ESV)
Living a changed, transformed life as a Christian matters.
It’s not the basis for which we are saved. That happens in Romans chapters 1-11. We are saved because of what God has done for us in Christ Jesus. We are justified, made friends with God by faith in him who lived, died, and rose again.
But then chapter 12 verse 1, and to the end of the book of Romans, is all about how to live in light of that mercy that God has shown to us.
And so it matters that we give ourselves over to thinking about how we are to change, how we are to be different from the world around us. Not because we need to do those things to be saved, but that’s the fruit of being one who now belongs to Jesus.
And so, give yourself over to that work of transformation today. Ask God by his Spirit to do that work in your mind and in your life, that you would be different, that you would be transformed for his glory.
