Now what I am commanding you this day is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.
Deuteronomy 30:11
If it was said that believing in God and walking in his ways is easy, that would be false. If it was said that the religious life asks nothing of its devotees, that also would be untrue. The fact is we cannot have value in any aspect of our lives without effort, discipline and cost. However, what is so wonderful about a life lived for God is that it is possible. Not that it lies within us to serve God with a perfection matching his own. Rather, the verse speaks to us of God’s mercy. Heaven is accessible to us because it is not beyond the reach of faithful striving thereto.
