Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.
1 Samuel 2:3
So spoke Hannah who had for years been mocked by her adversary because she had not been able to give her husband Elkanah a child. In her heartbreak she appealed to the Lord and within year she gave birth to Samuel. In gratitude she sings out her faith. Those who vaunt themselves against their fellows, those who mock those who seem to be weaker, should take note that GOD KNOWS. What does he know? He knows that are proud and think they are on top are deluded. He knows that their privileges are fragile and temporary. And, despite appearances, God knows who are truly his servants.
