“This is what the Lord says: Have you not murdered a man and seized his property?”( 1 Kings 21:19).
Ahab had not killed Naboth in the manner of a ‘hit-man’ who lies in wait for his target. But he had ‘arranged’ through his wife and other parties to blacken Naboth’s name so that other third-parties would stone Naboth to death. Ahab was not the first, nor was he the last man bring about the demise of another person who stood in the way of his material ambitions, thinking to keep himself from guilt through degrees of separation from the crime. By means of calculated use of law courts, it is possible for anyone today to increase their wealth at the expense of the innocent and defenceless. Beware the Ahab within!
