“The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they cannot mature” (Luke 8:14).

Jesus describes riches and pleasures as thorns that choke the life out of us because these things come to us with a package of worries.

Don’t envy those who are wealthy and who enjoy the pleasures of this world, because the day is coming, if you remain faithful, when you will have riches and pleasures untold without the handicap of the worries that accompany them in this present life.
