When Jesus of Nazareth, who was born into David’s royal line, came and revealed by his words and actions that he was setting up a kingdom that would last forever, many people recognised that he was the promised son of King David ([tippy title=”Matthew 21:9″ class=”” showheader=”true” href=”” width=”450″ height=”100″] 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!”[/tippy]), the one whose reign would never cease ([tippy title=”Luke 1:30-33″ class=”” showheader=”true” href=”” width=”450″ height=”200″] 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”[/tippy]).

All who put their full trust in Jesus become citizens of his eternal kingdom. Like the repentant felon who was crucified beside Jesus, all you have to do is ask him for citizenship and he will freely give it to you ([tippy title=”Luke 23:42-43″ class=”myclass” showheader=”true” href=”” width=”450″ height=”100″]42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. “ 43 Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”[/tippy]).
