“When the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘Howdid you get in here without wedding clothes?’ The man was speechless” ([tippy title=”Matthew 21:44″ class=”” showheader=”true” href=”” width=”450″ height=”50″]44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.[/tippy]).

A wedding celebrates the union of a man and a woman, and the wedding in this parable pictures the union of Christ with his people in his kingdom.

The wedding clothes, which are freely supplied by the Lord, are our entitlement to this marriage. Nothing we can do will entitle us to this union; it’s only what Christ did for us on the cross that clothes us appropriately. And it’s ours for the asking.
