In answer to the question “How did, Pontius Pilate die?”, one of my college students wrote, “He suicided!” Well, that was all right. But the.next bit made me thin!<, “By ringing his hands!” He suicided, by ringin9 his hands. As I read that, I could hardly stop laughing. I realized that the student was thinking of the passage where Pontius Pilato called for. water and washed his hands, and then delivered Jesus up to be crucified. But the longer I think on that answer, I think the student was right. And, many ‘of us in this room are in danger of suiciding by washing our hands of Christ!
